“At St Andrew’s school governors, parents, children and staff work as a team, building on success in a Christian atmosphere where everyone feels valued.
The governors are very proud of St Andrew’s and actively support the Head teacher and school personnel in achieving the schools aims and objectives. The staff are vibrant, highly motivated, caring and professional in all aspects of education and under the leadership of Mrs Judith Rainford, we are fully convinced our children receive the help and guidance to attain their full potential.

It is important that as parents, you feel welcome. A good relationship between school and home helps to build a child’s confidence and assists their development in school. At St Andrew’s we strive to foster a relationship that doesn’t end at the school gate. School days should be the happiest days of your child’s life and we aim to ensure that your child receives a happy, secure and stimulating start to their education.”

Reverend Rachel Battershell

Reverend Rachel Battershell

Governor and Reverend at St Andrew’s Church, Dearnley.

“I was ordained at Manchester Cathedral in June 2011 and spent my Curacy in two small parishes in Oldham and then worked as a Team Vicar in a Parish in Ashton under Lyne. I became the Vicar of the Benefice of Dearnley, Wardle and Smallbridge, which includes St Andrew’s Church, Dearnley and Wardle Village Church in May 2017.
Before ordination, I worked as a nurse in a variety of settings; hospital wards, nursing homes, building sites and factories. The last 10 years of my nursing career, I worked in the field of Occupational Health, working in food factories, car manufacture and finally at the University of Salford where I looked after the staff of the university as well as students on health care courses.
I have enjoyed my interaction with the five schools in the area with many assemblies and visits to Church over the year. I am a Member of the Board of Wardle Trust following the two Church schools joining the trust in September 2017.
Being a Member of the board enables me to maintain the Christian ethos of St James’ and St Andrew’s schools. But this role also involves working with the other Members and Trustees to provide excellent teaching and outcomes for our Children both in primary and secondary levels. I look forward to the challenges ahead in the Church, Community and at the Trust.”
